The Family of God

Just like in an earthly family, where you receive love and give it, in God's family, we are called to love and care for our fellow members.

There are 58 "one-anothers" in the New Testament. This is something to do with a Greek verb mode. The point is the mutual giving of oneself to the other person, and their giving of theirself, back.

The 58 "one anothers" fall under 5 categories:

Just a few weeks ago I met a sister in Christ in Atlanta (by phone) who is playing this role in my life. When I met Marita, I was in need of encouragement. We talked it over and she actually started to call me every day with a word of encouragement. She asks how I'm feeling, and how my day is going. Her daily phone calls are giving me the courage (en- Courage) to be the best I can be. To keep my spirits up.

10. Alex Klinefelter, 50 cents for the snack machine in downstairs McDowell Hall, and eternal salvation. I hope Sir remembers that.

9. Getting a free haircut and making fancy coffee stuff with Elizabeth and Genevieve during final essay writing time, while discussing our future and watching that movie where Sean Penn is a retarded guy. (that's not sir robert but it still counts)


8. Being called upon to drive the WartHog so Sir Robert could shoot aliens from the back seat and advance to the next level of Halo 2 (which I have since beaten! hah!).


7. Giving Genevieve a back massage while she was sick laying on Elizabeth's bed and asking her completely innocently & absent-mindedly "What is your favorite physical activity?"

Why has this relationship ended up on a sour note?

Why has it left me with nothing but memories and journal entries?

Haven't I learned from experience?

To give and receive love, is too powerful a drug to go through withdrawal so cold.

No, it's not a drug, it is more wholesome than that, but the withdrawal feels just as intense. And now the tears flow like hot salt-water.

The walls I put up now will encircle me for some time. Friends console me. Thank God for consolation. He is my consolation, and everything I have left should be tied up with Him.

Merle Haggard concert - March 27, Cols., GA

Merle Haggard concert last night at rivercenter. Dress was low-key, blue jean jacket and jeans.

Two guys were about to be fighting in front of us, until one of them was asked to leave.

Merle was classy and spunky. They gave him a standing ovation just for walking out.

The highlight was when he played Folsom Prison Blues.

He sang a song about Columbus, Ga.

Loretta Lynn is coming April 22.

Mind and Body

Descartes separated his body from the world around him. Everything that validated his existence was his thoughts. That's why he loved math; it's so linked to pure thought.
Is this the right way to go? What about emotions? Doesn't Descartes' idea make us like human computers? A computer thinks, therefore it is.
